For 63 years, Acapella Express has been entertaining Fargo-Moorhead and empowering women. This local chapter of the Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of female singers, is dedicated to singing in the community. The group will perform at events around town and an annual regional competition.
For most people, their only experience with acapella comes from TV shows like “Glee” or the movie “Pitch Perfect.” Any woman who has been interested in acapella can get involved in this year-round organization. In fact, they are making a push to try and get more members involved in the group.
“The acapella piece, with the harmony, is something that really grabs you when you get involved in it,” said Anna Gauslow. “The more you hear it, the more you like it and the more you want to do it. When you perform it, it’s a lot of fun because it’s rewarding to hear the good sounds with the chords.”
