Market Season!

Check out some of the local markets you can venture to this season!

Summer eating wouldn’t be complete without our local farmers’ markets, and we have a great variety of places to choose from no matter where you are in town. Check out some of the local markets to visit this summer!

Ladybug Acres

(Red Barn) Produce Stand

Make sure you visit the Red Barn this season! You’ll find lots of great local produce, plus some entertainment! In the fall, bring your family and friends for specialty pumpkin carving and other fall favorites like gourd, corn stalk and straw bale decorating. This will be Ladybug Acres’ 14th season, learn more!

Here’s what you need to know:

WHERE: Petro Serve Parking Lot, located at 2110 S University Dr, Fargo, ND

WHEN: Mid-July – Oct. 31

WHAT: Locally grown produce

WHO: All produce is grown by Ladybug Acres, with the exception of the apples which are from Gottenborg Apple Orchard!

BONUS: When visiting, look for the classic Red Barn and you’ll know you’re in the right place!

Moorhead Farmers Market

The City of Moorhead brings a market across the river at the Moorhead Farmers Market. While you enjoy the goodies, have some fun with activities while visiting the market as well. The market will feature free music performances each week. In addition, you can rent canoes and kayaks on a first-come, first-serve basis. This summer will be the market’s ninth year in operation, check it out.

Here’s what you need to know:

WHERE: Hjemkomst Center Parking Lot, 202 1 St Ave N, Moorhead, MN

WHEN: Tuesdays, May 31 – September 27, 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm

WHAT: Produce, salsas, jams and jellies, hand-crafted products, soaps, meats and more!

WHO: In their peak season (July-Sept.) shop from about 15-20 different vendors

BONUS: SNAP benefits are accepted and matched dollar for dollar up to $10 through Hunger Solutions of MN. The Power of Produce Club for kids 4-12 and adults 55+ will provide $2 worth of tokens to spend each week at a produce stand to help promote healthy eating. This program is sponsored by Essentia Health!

Red River Market

In the heart of downtown lives the Red River Market. Sitting in the bustling Broadway Square, this market brings fresh produce, live entertainment, great food and lots of fun. The market began in 2015 and has been supporting the community by providing fresh food, as well as giving support to the local farms and new food businesses. Visit this local market during its upcoming season!

Here’s what you need to know:

WHERE: Broadway Square, 201 Broadway N, Fargo, ND

WHEN: Beginning July 9

WHAT: Locally grown produce and makers items, live musical and cultural performances, a plethora of local food trucks

WHO: As North Dakota’s largest farmers market, they bring over 90 local farmers and makers

BONUS: Not only is this market chock full of great buys, but they also aim to educate their visitors as well. According to their website, they provide two educational cooking demonstrations per market day from local chefs and dietitians!

The Northern Plains Farmers Market at West Acres

Here’s what you need to know:

WHERE: Just off 42nd St S, between 13th and 15th Ave in the west parking lot of West Acres.

WHEN: Beginning June 21

WHAT: Local produce in a wonderful community space

BONUS: This market is a partnership between the Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society and West Acres. Support your local growing community!

Hildebrant’s Farm

Here’s what you need to know:

WHERE: 349 Main Avenue East, West Fargo, ND.

WHEN: Began May 2 WHAT Fresh fruits and vegetables from the Hildebrant Farm, as well as gardening essentials and plants

BONUS: The family of Hildebrant Farm are third-generation farmers, the actual farmland is located in Glyndon. They use organic methods to grow their produce for you!

We have a long and adventurous season ahead of us. Try out a new recipe in the kitchen with local produce, or spend a morning exploring the products of our community. Either way, try to hit them all!
