9 Fargo Instagram Personalities To Follow In 2018

Local Insta Personalities To Follow In 2018

On a platform known for its nostalgic filters and reminiscent posts, Instagram has quickly become an electronic scrapbook for people all over the world. The collective collage of memories captured and shared create a track record of past days, weeks and years that tells a story entirely unique to each person.

While the platform takes a retroactive stance on photography, some users understand the potential of the posts not yet shared. Manipulating their personal progression by focusing on a certain palette or atheistic, the most coherent Instagram personalities experiment with this progression, propelling their page forward in time, not back.

Some post art, others photography and many capture simple moments with friends and family, but one thing’s for certain: It’s all about the next post. Only new posts can deliver us from an endless scroll backward, and the following list is sure to keep you moving forward creatively in 2018.

“San Juan Island, Washington”

2. What’s your connection to Fargo?
“My husband Josh and I moved here in August of 2016 so he could attend NDSU where he is getting his master’s in architecture. He’s from Texas and I’m from Washington so it’s pretty funny when people ask us how we landed in Fargo … talk about a long story.

3. What is your area of study/occupation?
“I am the brand manager and assistant buyer at the local boutique Mint + Basil.”

4. Who’s someone in your life you love collaborating with, either on Instagram or using other media?

5. In five sentences or less, tell us about the photo above.
“My husband and I are expecting a baby girl (our first) in early March and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s been so sweet and special to put together her room and be able to share it with friends and family while preparing for this next season of life. Plus, having such a blessing to look forward to is making winter a lot more bearable this year.”

1. Where did you grow up?

2. What’s your connection to Fargo?
“My connection to Fargo is North Dakota State University where I’m currently a student.”

5. In five sentences or less, tell us about the photo above.
“This photo was taken on one of my many trips to Theodore Roosevelt National Park in the south unit. I was interested in how alien the landscape looked with all the layers of dirt and rock. The trip sparked a whole series about how a road can be both a barrier and bridge to nature. I hope this project inspires people to get out of their cars and explore the park on foot.

One of my favorite things to do is drive around Fargo late at night when the city is quiet and calm. This photo is from a series I did showing Fargo from my favorite point of view. After planning the shoot, it took three weeks for both of my conditions to be met: a weeknight where there would be no cars on the road and a slight mist or fog covering the town. This photo was taken on 52nd Avenue South around 3 a.m., with black and white film, and was originally a silver gelatin darkroom print.”

5. In five sentences or less, tell us about the photo above.
“I had a project in 2017 where I wanted to post something on Instagram every single day and this was for day 334. That particular photo was taken on a really cold night at the main gates of MSUM. My girlfriend Laura and I were driving around when I spotted those lights and thought of this concept. We took about 75 shots but this one ended up being my favorite. I’ve learned that framing and symmetry are really important in a good photo so I love how the lights outline me with the parallel lines.

I haven’t done many collaborations but I’d have to say using the legal art wall is like a giant collaboration. It’s fun to see a wide range of work from all skill levels constantly changing.”

5. In five sentences or less, tell us about the photo above.
“My friend went to New York City and had some of my stickers. She captured a very cool photo. Stickers are available at Make Room in Fargo.”

“During the Christmas season, I carry and hand out candy canes to the welders and forklift driver to whom I deliver steel. It brings me joy to see the big smiles of even the most grizzled characters that a simple gesture of a candy cane can bring. Kevin (an employee at Larson welding) is a great guy who not only smiled big but was also willing to pose for a quick picture.”

My life goal is to work with him on a project.”

5.In five sentences or less, tell us about the photo above.
“This photo was taken in Rome, Italy. It peers into a life that no one in America can imagine. There are huge gated doors that block the entrance to the life of the Roman Bishops, and the only way to view into this closed-off area is through a tiny keyhole. I backpacked through Italy for two weeks and saw a lot of amazing things, but I will never forget the wind hitting my eyes as I peered through this holy place to see the Vatican at the end of a red carpet.”
