Morton is the site leader for the Microsoft campus in Fargo; prior to that role, Morton served as chief of staff at Great Plains Software. He will combine his business savvy with examples drawn from his time spent as a football coach, having lead the programs at University of Wisconsin, the University of Tulsa and North Dakota State University.

During his tenure as head coach of the Bison, Morton and his teams won four conference champions and one national championship; he earned national coach of the year honors in 1983.
