Free, indoor, one-day, family friendly celebration of the tremendous cultural diversity in the Moorhead-Fargo community held at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead, MN, November 14, 2015 from 10am-4pm. The festival draws community members together to learn about each other through sharing their artistic and cultural traditions.
On our Main Stage, different groups and individuals perform a variety of dance and music throughout the day. One of our featured artists is Jesus “Chuy” Negrete, interpreting the cultural heritage of Mexican and Mexican-American bracero (guest worker) history through storytelling. Another highlight of Pangea is always the culinary artistry; this year will be no exception. Asian, Filipino, Haitian, Sri Lankan, Kurdish, Danish and Middle Eastern cuisine and others will tempt many taste buds. As visitors move through the four floors of the Hjemkomst Center, they will discover exhibitors displaying information about their countries of origin, and many offer children’s learning activities in exchange for a flag sticker for the children’s “passports.” Pangea–COC is a unique experience for the whole family to discover the cultural diversity of the FM area and surrounding communities.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Lake Region Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage fund.
