Born in New Franklin, Missouri, in 1971, Evans first began singing at the age of five on the weekends in her family’s band. In the early 1990s, she formed a band, “Sara Evans & North Santiam,” and opened for Willie Nelson and Tim McGraw. In 1996, Evans signed a solo contract with RCA Nashville after her rendition of Buck Owens’ “I’ve Got a Tiger by the Tail” impressed its songwriter.

Evans released her debut album, “Three Chords and the Truth,” in 1997. “No Place That Far” dropped one year later, was Certified Gold, and the title track became Evans’ first Number One hit. Her third album, “Born to Fly,” became the best-selling solo album in 2000 and went Double-Platinum, selling over two million copies.

She followed up with back-to-back Platinum albums, “Restless” and “Real Fine Place,” and two more hit singles, “Suds In The Bucket” and “A Real Fine Place To Start.” Evans’ numerous hits won her The Academy of Country Music’s Female Vocalist of the Year Award in 2006. “Stronger” was released in 2011, and featured the Number One “A Little Bit Stronger.” Her most recent album, “Slow Me Down,” dropped in March 2014.

In addition to her numerous Number One hits and ACM Award, Evans has been named one of PEOPLE magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People,” and won the Country Music Association’s Video of the Year for “Born To Fly” in 2001.
