A 5K run especially for girls – plus their moms, dads, brothers and others passionate for running – will weave through Fargo’s Lindenwood Park on October 3.

Sponsored by the local nonprofit organization, Girls on The Run, it will provide medals and technical t-shirts to all runners. The Saturday morning run starts at 9 a.m. at the main shelter within Lindenwood Park. It is open to the public and all ages.

Happy Hair styling booth and face painting will begin at 8 a.m.

Girls on the Run works to encourage pre-teen girls to develop self-respect and healthy lifestyles through 13 weeks of lessons and running games, culminating in a celebration 5K race. A nationally-tested curriculum launched locally in August addresses all aspects of girls’ development in order to enhance their physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being while inspiring a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness.
