We’ve been counting down the days. As soon as the calendars turn to June, it means summer events are finally here. From festivals to outdoor movies, here are the top events you can’t miss in June. You can find more events on our Events Calendar at fargomonthly.com/fargo-event-calendar.

FM CROSSROADS POWWOW

Friday, June 2 at 7 p.m.; Saturday, June 3 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Sunday, June 4 at 1 p.m.
The Fargo-Moorhead community is located in the center of many different Native American tribes of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota and Canada. This annual international contest powwow brings in Native American dancers and singers from across the U.S. and Canada to compete and showcases the rich Native American culture of the area. This event is open to the public, and will promote cultural awareness within our community. It also gives many in our community who have never been exposed to contest powwow the opportunity to see and hear the different songs and styles of dance of the many tribes from our area. Tickets are $25 for a three-day pass, $10 for a day pass and ages 7 and under and 65 and older are free.

Fargo Ribfest

HAPPY HARRY'S RIBFEST

June 7-10 from 11 a.m.-11 p.m.
The annual Happy Harry’s Ribfest allows you to indulge in award-winning ribs and foods such as chicken, pulled pork and much more from some of the best food vendors in the country. When you’re done eating, you can enjoy great entertainment with national and local music acts every night plus games for the kids. The music lineup this year includes Collective Soul, Night Ranger, Diamond Rio and Little Texas.

2017 FARGO-MOORHEAD RESTAURANT WEEK

June 8-17
Go on a foodie adventure in Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo and indulge in this event that celebrates the area’s culinary scene. CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

Sunday, June 11 from 1-6 p.m.
Experience the sounds of classic music while enjoying a wonderful afternoon outside. Listen to free performances from the FM Choral Artists, FM KICKS Jazz Band, Penny and Pals and more. You can also experience the “Instrument Petting Zoo” and try your luck in the “Music Listening Contest.” Concessions will be available.

Fargo BBB Fest

FARGO MONTHLY'S BURGERS, BBQ AND BEER FESTIVAL

Thursday, June 15 from 5-10 p.m.
Formerly known as the Burgers, Bourbon and Beer Festival, Fargo Monthly is excited to announce a change to the Burgers, BBQ and Beer Festival. Don’t worry, you’ll still get to eat all the tasty burgers and sample delicious beer, but now you’ll be able to enjoy and learn about some of the best barbecue techniques. Fargo Monthly and Budweiser are excited to bring back this great event for the fourth year. This is a pre-sale and 21+ event. You must buy your ticket beforehand to participate in the sampling and to enjoy the scrumptious burgers. Get your tickets today for only $30!

*Doors open at 5 p.m. Beer and burger sampling will take place from 5-7 p.m. (All sampling will end at 7 p.m., so arrive early to enjoy it all.)

What you get with a ticket:

  • Admittance to the event.
  • Burger samples from participating restaurants.
  • Beer samples provided by DS Beverages. There will also be several cash bars at the event. • Access to the BBQ tent with tastings and lessons.
  • Access to the dance starting around 7:30 p.m. with some funky tunes from local legends Post Traumatic Funk Syndrome.
  • A ballot to vote for the best burger in the fourth annual Burger Battle.

WEST FARGO PARK'S DOG SHOW

Tuesday, June 13 from 5-7:30 p.m.
Enter your dog in this fun and family-focused dog show. Awards such as cutest puppy, best groomed, best dressed, best trick and more will be presented. First-place winners of each category will be eligible for the best of show award. Area pet vendors will also be on site. Free hot dogs and pop will be available while supplies last.

MOORHEAD RIVERARTS

June 13 and 27 from 5:30-8 p.m.
There’s always something to enjoy at Moorhead RiverArts festival. Each night features free horse-drawn carriage rides, inflatable games, art and craft vendors, food, hands-on activities, live music and more. All concerts begin at 6 p.m. and activities are subject to change. June 13 will feature a performance by Lars and Joe Pony Show, along with a petting zoo, and June 27 will feature a performance by FM KICKS Jazz Band and the Goosebury Park Players, along with pony rides.

MIDWEST KID FEST & TEDDY BEAR PARADE

Friday, June 16 from 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m.
Island Park will be filled with music and bright colors as children spend the day playing and learning. Bring a teddy bear to Dike West and march in the Teddy Bear Parade starting at 10:30 a.m. Following the parade, the festival will host over 30 interactive booths, carnival games and entertainment acts. All activities of the festival are free.

German Beer Flight from Wurst Bier Hall

UNDER BREW SKIES BEER FESTIVAL

Saturday, June 17 from 2-6 p.m.
The North Dakota Brewers Guild is holding their first Fargo festival, the Under Brew Skies Beer Festival, which is a celebration of North Dakota and bordering state brewers. On a sunny June afternoon, there is no better place to sip more than 60 independent craft beers with friends in Downtown Fargo’s beautiful Island Park. You’ll also be able to enjoy food and music in addition to the brews.

GLOW-IN-THE-DARK GOLF TOURNAMENT

Wednesday, June 21 at dusk
Give your golf game a new challenge by playing in the dark. Glow balls are provided and all tournaments start just after dusk. Space is limited so register in advance. Cost is $90 per team for a four-person scramble.

Streets Alive

STREETS ALIVE!

Sunday, June 25 from noon-5 p.m.
This annual event is set to spark human movement. Three miles of Downtown Fargo and Moorhead streets will be shut down to motorized traffic so that anyone can walk, run, bike, skate, dance or whatever your heart desires when it comes to movement. You can also meet (and eat) with healthy vendors. This event is free and open to the public.

SCANDINAVIAN HJEMKOMST AND MIDWEST VIKING FESTIVALS

Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24
The Midwest Viking Festival and the annual Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival are joining forces again to present a celebration of Nordic cultures from the myths of Valhalla, through medieval Europe and the American frontier to today. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival, so expect an extra special celebration. The Midwest Viking Festival is an outdoor gathering of craftsmen, musicians and living history enthusiasts who specialize in bringing the Viking Age back to life. Visitors will also experience other Viking activities including glass bead making, coin-striking, chainmail production, blacksmithing, wood carving, pottery making, a variety of challenging Viking games and more. The Scandinavian Hjemkomst Festival is a celebration of Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish, Finnish and Danish Cultures where visitors will have the chance to walk through the Hjemkomst Center discovering foods and shopping from all of the Scandinavian countries.

MOVIE NIGHT IN THE PARK

Monday, June 26 at dusk
Bring the whole family to enjoy and outdoor movie at various parks around Fargo-Moorhead. Watch a family movie (movie schedule on the Fargo Park District’s website closer to each date) on a big inflatable screen in the middle of the park, and don’t forget your blankets. All movies start at dusk and are free.
