Date Night: The Fancy Date

Photos By Hillary Ehlen, J. Alan Paul Photography

We all have big days worth observing with something extra special. An anniversary, a birthday, a job promotion, purchasing a home…there’s a lot we can celebrate! Whatever you’re celebrating—big or small—it’s encouraged that you have a fancy date night to commemorate it. Here we have compiled some Fargo-Moorhead date night options for when you’re feeling upscale. Get a little dressed up and bring on the romance!

Dine At Mezzaluna

If dressing nice and eating incredibly well sounds like a good night to you, then Mezzaluna is the spot to go. The upscale environment and attentive staff make you feel like royalty, and the food always exceeds expectations. To plan for some savings, don’t miss their TWO happy hours, 5 to 6 p.m. and 9 to 11 p.m.

Visit A Winery

A trip to one of our local wineries makes for a perfect fancy date! Nothing says “sophistication” quite like sampling wines and discussing their flavor profile with your date. Whether you are a wine pro or not, heading to a local winery and sampling what they offer is a fun and educational experience. Some local wineries to check out include 4e Winery (Mapleton), Rookery Rock Winery (Wheatland), Maple River Winery (Casselton), Bear Creek Winery (Fargo), Dakota Vines Winery (Colfax) and Red Trail Vineyard (Buffalo).

Take A Hotel Donaldson Staycation

Sometimes it just feels good to get away without REALLY traveling too far. A staycation is a great way for you and your sweetie to treat yourselves while easily returning to “the real world” within a day. To be close to the action of downtown while also experiencing luxury amenities, we recommend a stay at the Hotel Donaldson. In addition to the luxurious suites you can choose from, your stay at the Hotel Donaldson includes complimentary wine and cheese from 5 to 6 p.m., an artisan pastry basket delivered to your suite in the morning, Turndown truffle service and access to the rooftop hot tub. Plus, Fargo residents get a special locals discount.

Attend A Gala

The Fargo community sure knows how to throw a gala. Throughout the year, there are a number of galas to attend, most of which go to a good cause. You get to put on some heels or a tie, have great food and drinks AND it all goes to a great cause. What more could you ask for? Here are some upcoming galas to take note of:

• Feb. 8: Ronald McDonald House Charities’ 31st Annual Sweetheart Ball
• Feb. 8: A Singing Valentine Presented by Fargo-Moorhead Choral Artists
• Feb 20: 2nd Annual Belles & Blooms Presented by Hope Blooms
• Feb 29: Trans Support Gala Presented by Tri-State Transgender (TSTG)
• March 6: I Have a Voice Gala Presented by GiGi’s Playhouse Fargo

Listen To The Music

Fargo is fortunate enough to house both the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra and the Fargo-Moorhead Opera. Both of these musical organizations have performances throughout the year and are quite the treat. Going to one of these performances will allow you and your date to experience the talents within our community in a unique concert experience. You might even discover a newfound love for performing arts and music!
