To spread the word and shine a very bright light on animals finding forever homes, Fargo Monthly has decided to feature cats and dogs from the various shelters and rescues in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Each month, we are sharing the stories of animals looking for loving owners. Today, we are featuring dogs from 4 Luv Of Dog Rescue and cats from CATS Cradle Shelter. This Saturday, April 29, 4 Luv Of Dog and CATS Cradle are hosting an adoption event at PetSmart in West Fargo from 1-3 p.m. Visitors can come and say hello to some of the dogs and cats currently being cared for in local shelters and rescues. Check out some of the featured animals and consider bringing one home!

adopt dog durand
Foster Home Feedback: “Durand is such a big goofy boy! He has the most beautiful coloring and a big blockhead. He has come a long way with the help of some pretty amazing volunteers. Even though Durand doesn’t enjoy other dogs in a home, (it) just means he wants to be your one and only love.

“Durand is very smart and treat motivated, which has helped him develop his manners and continue on his training path.”

– Foster care provider

“Durand loves to go for long walks and play in the back kennel run at the building. From my time with him, he enjoys meeting new people and getting lots of squishes. He is easy to leash up and is well behaved in his kennel. Durand is kennel trained and always keeps it clean, and is happy to enjoy a frozen Kong while hanging in the office. Durand is very smart and treat motivated, which has helped him develop his manners and continue on his training path. Please consider giving Durand a shot at a forever home.”

Al E. Cat Cats Cradle

Age: Adult, 4.5 years
Sex: Male
Location: CATS Cradle Shelter
Adoption Donation: CATS Cradle’s adoption fee is $109.75 plus tax for a total of $118.

Important Information: Neutered male, vaccinations current, microchipped, he arrived yesterday with multiple sores from him scratching himself due to ear mites but will make a full recovery in no time

Al E. Cat Cats Cradle

Shelter Feedback: “He’s just arrived from the pound, so there’s still a lot to learn about him. He had ear mites when we received him and horrible sores around his neck, but he should have a very successful recovery from it. His previous owner made him an outdoor pet, which is against all (CATS Cradle’s) policies, and that’s probably why he ended up with ear mites.

“He seems to be super sweet, calm and loves to be pet.”

– CATS Cradle’s care providers

“We don’t know a lot about his personality yet, but he seems to be super sweet, calm and loves to be pet. So far, he’s been extremely loving and doesn’t bite or hide from people.”

Gretta 4 love of dog

Breed: Shepard mix
Age: 6.5 years
Size: Large, 65 pounds
Sex: Female
Location: 4 Luv of Dog

Foster Home Feedback: “What a wonderful girl Miss Gretta is! I know from seeing that she does not like other animals on her profile that it can be a little disheartening, especially after you see how beautiful she is. However, while this is an important thing to note, don’t let it stop you from learning more about her first.

“She is such a sweet and loving girl who I have so enjoyed getting to spend time with.”

– Foster care provider

“Gretta loves to play fetch, chew on bones on the couch, give very nice kisses, and get belly rubs. She is such a sweet and loving girl who I have so enjoyed getting to spend time with.”

Nate Cats Cradle
Coat: Domestic shorthair, orange and white tabby

Nate Cats Cradle

Shelter Feedback: “Nate has come a long way. When he arrived, he has such a severe ear infection that his eardrum ruptured and he ended up losing his hearing in that ear. Now, he just has a slight head tilt but it’s been improving as the days go on.

“If you want a lap cat to love, he is perfect.”

– Cats Cradle’s care providers
“Throughout it all, Nate has kept his sweet and people-loving personality. If you want a lap cat to love, he is perfect.”

Noah 4 love of dog

adopt dog noah

Foster Home Feedback: “Noah is a very cute, cuddly lap dog. He likes to be right by his person as much as possible but does not put up much of a fuss when his person leaves. He does well in his kennel. Noah goes in the kennel on command and may whine for a bit, but it quickly subsides.

“Noah enjoys being outside, whether it by in a fenced yard or on a walk around the neighborhood.”

– Foster care provider

“He really likes to play with his squeaky plush toy. He plays both fetch and tug of war with it and he likes to have it as his companion while he is in his kennel. Noah has been in a house with two other dogs and they have gotten along well. He tries to get them to play with him, which lasts for a few minutes, but my dogs are old and tired, so mainly they just lay around on the couch together. Noah enjoys being outside, whether it by in a fenced yard or on a walk around the neighborhood.”

Delta Cats Cradle

Coat: Domestic shorthair, gray or blue tabby
Age: Adult, probably born early 2014
Sex: Female
Location: CATS Cradle Shelter
Adoption Donation: CATS Cradle’s adoption fee is $109.75 plus tax for a total of $118.
Declawed: No
Important Information: Spayed female, vaccinations current, microchipped

Delta Cats Cradle

Shelter Feedback: “Delta is quite friendly and charming. She loves having space to spread out and explore and big windows are a must in her universe. She’s playful and outgoing, yet still very relaxed to be around.

“She loves having space to spread out and explore.”

– CATS Cradle’s care providers

“She can sit and people-watch for hours. Delta can be playful, but she will let you know when she’s had enough, then she’s very content to lay on a cat tree and just share space with people. She should be a relatively undemanding family companion.”

Nyal 4 love of dog
Breed: Labrador retriever mix
Age: 1.5 years
Size: Large, 66 pounds
Sex: Male
Location: 4 Luv of Dog
Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check.
Important Information: Neutered male, vaccinations current, microchipped, older/considerate children only

Nyal 4 love of dog

Foster Home Feedback: “Nyle is such a loyal and loving dog with his people and is doing great on our many walks when meeting pedestrians, other dogs, and bikes. We sort of looked like a circus coming down the sidewalk with my little dog in a stroller (knee surgery needed) surrounded by both Darla and Nyle. He is so easy to walk with no pulling and non-reactive to bunnies and squirrels. This afternoon, I got my bike out, bought a helmet and off we went for a long bike ride and smart boy that he is, he was a pro at keeping pace with however fast or slow I went.

“He truly is amazing at following whatever rules you give him.”

– Foster care provider

“He really is just so easy in a home. I am not kenneling Nyle very often when I leave and nothing is touched or disturbed when I get back. He is sleeping in a bed on the floor and has never even jumped up on the bed to visit. He truly is amazing at following whatever rules you give him. That being said, Nyle still needs slow intros with new people as he is fearful when meeting strangers and needs to come to trust people before allowing them to love him up. Trying to describe the person or family that would be best for this boy would have them not having a lot of drop-in guests and although Nyle is fine with older kids, I think a home without them would be best as kids have lots of friends and they come with adults and that means strangers coming into the home.”

June 4 love of dog
Breed: Chihuahua
Age: 10 years
Size: Small, 12 pounds
Sex: Female
Location: 4 Luv of Dog
Adoption Donation: $180 (applicable sales tax included). Adoption fees may be paid with cash or check.
Important Information: Spayed female, vaccinations current, microchipped, no children
*June qualifies for our Seniors for Seniors Program. This program places senior dogs (age 8 or older) with senior citizens (age 65 or older) at a reduced adoption fee of $65.00.

June 4 love of dog

Foster Home Feedback: “June came to the rescue from a regional pound after she was picked up with a significant eye injury. As to be expected, her eye was very painful and she did not want to be handled, but we could tell there was a little sweetheart in there somewhere. There were a few road bumps in her recovery, but she is good as new now, and showing more and more of her sweet side every day. After about a week she started approaching for attention. A few days later, she was crawling in my lap when I sat on the floor. Now we are three weeks in and she loves to snuggle belly up on the couch.

“There is a lot of personality packed into this little dog and it is so much fun to see more of it coming out every day.”

– Foster care provider

“June is still slow to warm up to strangers, but if they ignore her she won’t bother them. She will find her dog bed and be content to hang out there while company is over. June does need a home with no kids. There are also 2 resident dogs and a cat in the home and June is able to coexist with them. She likes to be the boss and prefers if they don’t get right up in her face, especially the big dog. She wants them to think she’s tough, and then when you aren’t looking, she will go lay down next to them. There hasn’t been a single potty accident in the house and she causes no trouble being left loose in the house during the work day. There is a lot of personality packed into this little dog and it is so much fun to see more of it coming out every day.”
