To spread the word and shine a very bright light on animals finding forever homes, Fargo Monthly has decided to feature cats and dogs from the various shelters and rescues in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Each month, we are sharing the stories of animals looking for loving owners. Today, we are featuring animals from Homeward Animal Shelter. Homeward Animal Shelter is a local and community-funded, non-profit animal shelter who’s mission is to “Rescue. Shelter. Protect. Rehome.” Check out some of these adoptable animals and consider bringing one home!

Cat adoption fees are $109 + tax. (Unless otherwise noted.)
Dog adoption fees are $169 + tax. (Unless otherwise noted.)

* Adoption fees include all necessary vaccinations, a microchip, testing (FeLV/FIV for cats and heartworm test for dogs) and spaying/neutering of every animal that is adopted from our facility. If the animal is too young for sterilizing, the adopter is responsible to see that this is done. Once Homeward Animal Shelter receive confirmation that the adopted animal has been altered, a refund will be refunded ($75 for dogs and $40 for cats).

Mara

“Meow! My name is Mara, and I am a shy, sweet girl who would really love to find my new forever home! I need a home that will be a little patient with me, since new things scare me and I get easily stressed. My perfect home will be very calm, and relaxed and doesn’t mind giving me a little personal space, to begin with. Once I warm up to you, I am a very sweet little kitty, and I’m a really pretty girl to add to it! I am front declawed already, so that is done if it is something you need. Won’t you come and meet me today?”

Petey

“Bark! Bark! My name is Petey and I’m one heck of a fun guy! I’m extremely energetic, so an active household is the best place for me. I LOVE being outside and going for walks and runs with my human. I’m a total goofball and sometimes I don’t realize how big I am, because I’m often trying to fit my entire body on to your lap like a little lap dog. I love giving out kisses and being around people. I’m very treat motivated, so I’ll definitely be able to learn a few tricks if you reward me with treats. I would prefer to go to a home that does not have children or cats! If you’re ready for a lot of energy and a lot of fun, definitely come and meet me!”

“People tell me all the time that I am one handsome cat, but I also have a great personality to boot! My name is Gideon, and I am a lovely charmer of a kitty and I am the perfect lap warmer. I love to snuggle up and get lots of pets and love. I’m a very laid-back guy, and not much ruffles my feathers. I do need to eat a special food for my kidneys, but as long as I eat it, I do great. And it’s not that much more expensive than the high-end cat foods. Won’t you come and give me a chance?”

Atlas

“I’m Atlas and I’m one buff dude! Everyone at the shelter tells me I’m a strong guy, that’s why I need to wear an easy walk when I’m walking and making friends with all the volunteers. I’m about as friendly as can be, and I really love a good snuggle. I do need a home without any other pets, because I don’t get along with other dogs or cats. I cannot live in an apartment, because sometimes I have an awful lot to say, and I can get pretty loud, we are working on my barking, but it might take a little time. Come and meet me today! I know you’ll fall in love with my smile.”

Just looking for someone to call my ‘person.’ If you’re looking for a cat that will roll all over the place because they’re just that silly, a sweet loving girl and a cat that LOVES to be pet, I’m the perfect match for you. I am a diabetic cat in remission, so I will need to be on a strict feeding schedule for the rest of my life. I am literally the nicest cat and will make anyone happy! I need to go to a home with no other animals and one where there will be lots of love and lots of spoiling me. Please come to the shelter to meet me because I promise after knowing me for two seconds, you’ll want to take me home!”

Petra

“Woof Woof! My name is Petra, and I have lived quite a bit adventures already in my life. I was found running scared in the country and it took a few days to people to gain my trust enough to catch me. So I was all on my own for a while, but I think I much prefer living in a home with a loving family. I’m a very sweet girl, a little shy, but I love to play and get belly rubs.
