To spread the word and shine a very bright light on animals finding forever homes, Fargo Monthly has decided to feature cats and dogs from the various shelters and rescues in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Each month, we are sharing the stories of animals looking for loving owners. Today, we are featuring cats from CATS Cradle Shelter. It’s a non-profit, no-kill shelter that is 100 percent donation funded. Its mission is to create a more humane and compassionate world, one cat at a time. Check out some of these six adoptable cats and consider bringing one (or all) home!

* Adoption fees include a wellness exam, all necessary vaccinations, deworming, a microchip, testing (FeLV/FIV for cats) and spaying/neutering.

Marnie Cats Cradle

Marnie

“Marnie is an adult, spayed female cat, probably born late 2016. She arrived with her sister (or maybe her mom), Matalyn. They are fun-loving young adults—still a little kittenish at times but simultaneously growing up into independent adults.

“Marnie is almost explosively friendly, she just can’t get enough attention. She face rubs, head bumps, flings her arms around us and tells us every day how lucky she is to be out of the pound and living a life of (relative) luxury. Marnie is not the cat for someone who wants a quiet, low key companion. Marnie wants to live with someone who embraces life and love with the same exuberance she does!”

Dotty

Spayed Female
Age: 1 1/2 years
Color: Black & White
Declawed: No

Dotty

Dotty

“Dotty is an adult female cat, probably born 2015 or 2016. She was a momma cat this summer and decided to settle her little family in a garden. The homeowner found her nursing her kittens amongst the flowers and became their foster mom.

“Dotty is very friendly and affectionate with humans and she was a fantastic mom. Her foster mom really loves Dotty and had planned to keep her, but there was a little problem: Dotty isn’t excited to share her human(s) with the resident cats. She’s okay with the resident male cat, who stands his ground, but she chases/stresses the quieter cat in the home. We are looking to find her another home where she can be the center of attention.

“Dotty’s got a keen sense of when a lap needs to be warmed or a hand is free to pet her. She would love to be the apple of some lucky family’s eye.”

Leonard

Domestic Short Hair
Neutered Male
Age: 5 months
Color: Brown Tabby
Declawed: No

Leonard 2

Leonard

“Leonard is a neutered male kitten, born around the beginning of June 2017. He arrived with his two brothers, Sheldon and Howard, and his sisters, Bernadette, Penny, and Priya. The whole family is extremely friendly and cuddly.

“Leonard is a little more independent than his brothers. He can actually walk around without falling on people’s feet for attention. He’s the burliest of the three and he’s a devoted family guy. He’s an excellent groomer and keeps his brothers looking spiffy, and we’ve busted him trying to groom other random kittens in his room.

“Leonard could be a great buddy for a younger cat and he could probably do well with a receptive older cat—he likes to play but he isn’t a pest about it, so who wouldn’t love this guy? He’s awesome!”

“Tiny Tim came out of the pound and is a true gentleman. He is polydactyl on all four paws and that makes him akin to a Hemingway cat. He is about 2 years old and as loving as he can be.”

Iggy

Domestic Short Hair
Spayed Female
Age: 1 1/2 years
Color: Black
Declawed: No

Iggy 2

Iggy

“Iggy is an adult, spayed female cat, probably born September or October 2016. She is a tripod, missing one rear leg due to an accident. Iggy has a strong constitution and a stronger personality, and both played big roles in her recovery.

“She hasn’t let her missing limb slow her down one bit. She scampers through her foster home like lightning, chasing the resident cats and her other foster-siblings. Her best friends are the family dogs—she doesn’t chase them but will share a recliner or lay on the bed near one or the other. She can hop on furniture like any other cat, although it helps her to have a step to get up on the bed.

“She’s very, very people focused. Sometimes she feels so desperate to be up with her foster family, she will use her claws to do pullups on a barstool until she can swing her one rear leg up and sit with everyone. Did we mention she’s a determined and focused little girl? We try to keep her nails trimmed, but she still does pullups if we don’t catch her. She’s such a wonderful, lucky cat that we think nails trims or nail caps will be a small price to pay for the joy she’ll bring to a lucky family.”

Gerry

Domestic Short Hair
Neutered Male
Age: 4 months
Color: Gray & Black Tabby
Declawed: No

Gerry

Gerry

“Gerry came to us from a rescue up North along with four siblings. He and Tomm are the only two still waiting to be adopted. Wound as tight as tight can be, he is full of energy and quite the love when he finally settles down. To take nothing away from being a handsome little tabby with a spotted chest.”
