To spread the word and shine a very bright light on animals finding forever homes, Fargo Monthly has decided to feature pets from various shelters and rescues in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Each month, we’re sharing the stories of animals looking for loving owners. Today, we are featuring animals from Homeward Animal Shelter. Homeward Animal Shelter is a local and community-funded, non-profit animal shelter whose mission is to “Rescue. Shelter. Protect. Rehome.” Check out some of these adoptable animals and consider bringing one home!

Cat adoption fees are $109 + tax. (Unless otherwise noted.)
Dog adoption fees are $169 + tax. (Unless otherwise noted.)

* Adoption fees include all necessary vaccinations, a microchip, testing (FeLV/FIV for cats and heartworm test for dogs) and spaying/neutering of every animal that is adopted from our facility. If the animal is too young for sterilizing, the adopter is responsible to see that this is done. Once Homeward Animal Shelter receive confirmation that the adopted animal has been altered, a refund will be refunded ($75 for dogs and $40 for cats).

“My name is Ezra, and I’m one handsome guy, and I have a great personality to match. I’m a young guy with loads of energy that would love an active home to keep me busy.

“I love people so much! All I want to do is be around people. I know a few tricks, and I have pretty decent manners when I calm down and focus. I do need some work on my potty training, but I’m a really smart guy and I know I will have it down soon. I can’t go into a home with cats, but I do well with other dogs.”

“Hi, there! My name is Pi, and I’m just about as sweet as pie too. I absolutely adore people. I love going on walks or just sitting and hanging out with people. We can really do whatever you want to do. I don’t care as long as I have people with me.

“I’m a younger pup, and I still need to work on some manners, so I’ll need some training to help with some of my bad habits. I sometimes get so excited I just don’t know what to do with myself!

“I’m a very smart boy and I know I will learn quickly. I can’t go into a home with cats or young children, but I would love an active home that is willing to keep me busy.”

Foster Home Feedback:
“I have been Casey’s foster mom for two months now and I can’t believe she doesn’t have a forever home! This dog is so insanely sweet and lovable, not to mention smart and kind!

“She likes long mornings in bed or on the couch snuggling under a blanket, playing fetch with her tennis ball or bone, learning new tricks for yummy treats, going for walks and sniffing new things. Casey doesn’t enjoy other dogs or cats in the home, but she is very wonderful with people.

“She has been gentle with the couple kids I’ve had over, though she can get rambunctious when she plays. Seriously, this dog is so willing to learn and wants to please. I know there’s someone out there who can love her forever!”

“Hey, friend! My name is Luna and I’m a two years old, dainty lady who is looking for someone to gossip with. I love chatting away when I find a good listener!

“I’m the perfect little darlin’ to add to your home and I’m so excited to find an owner who will spoil me forever. But I’ll need a special owner. You see, I have hyperesthesia, which means I have excessive physical sensitivity. To put it simply, sometimes when you pet me too much, it can start to hurt my skin. I’m on daily medication that helps me feel a lot better and I really do like getting pets—it just might have to be in small increments.

“I love being around people and will crawl right into your lap. I also love to play. Who doesn’t love a playful cat? If you think you can give me the special home that I need, I would love to meet you!”

Neutered Male
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Age: 3 years
Size: 10 lbs.

“My name is Mason, and I’m a total joy! I love cuddling up with my best friend and sleeping in the cutest positions. I get along well with other cats, and I will do just about anything for a good snack.

“I’m a total charmer and I’m sure I’ll have you wrapped around my little finger in no time. I like to chat about my day, and you can chat back. I like spending time with my human, how ever that may be. Meet me today, you’ll definitely fall in love!”

Spayed Female
Breed: Domestic Short Hair
Age: 7 years
Size: 9 lbs.
Important Information: Needs to be in a quiet household. No kids. Does well with calm cats and dogs. Very cuddly, sweet and mellow. She requires special food and a calm home.
*Sophia’s adoption fee has been sponsored by a generous donor.

“Hi, my name is Sophia, and I believe in second chances. You see, I came to the shelter one fine spring in a desperate situation. I was pregnant, cold, hungry and pretty nervous. I was given a warm and quiet place to have my babies in a foster home. Two days later, they arrived.

“My babies have since grown up and found their forever homes. Now it’s my turn. I’m still a little shy about being held, but I love to be scratched on the cheeks. I also love to play! I’m not much of a jumper and prefer to stay close to the ground.

“I’m used to kids from my foster family, but really prefer the peace and quiet from adults. Will you please be my forever second chance?”
