Looking for things to do in Fargo-Moorhead this weekend? Fargo Monthly has got you covered with our FM Weekend Forecast! Here are a few events, live music performances and drink specials you don’t want to miss:
Thursday, Jan. 3
The Arts Partnership is excited to host their 2nd annual Holiday Art Market at APT, a Creative Incubator (225 4th Ave. N.) in downtown Fargo! Shop from dozens of local artists, make crafts with your kiddos in a craft room decked out with a cool light show by Livewire and more.
Open Mic Slam Poetry night is the first Thursday of every month! This is a free event for the public. They are an inclusive and supportive group, so everyone is welcome. After the lineup, there’s an open mic time, so feel free to join in.
Friday, Jan. 4
For the last talk of 2018 (moved to January because of those darn blizzards!), this month’s theme is TRADITION! Rabbi Janeen Kobrinsky will be joining in to speak on it. Janeen’s bio: “I moved to Fargo 27 years ago from the northern climes of Winnipeg. I love this place on the planet. I have been many things along my journey: a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a musician, an artist and finally, a rabbi. My work as a pulpit rabbi has provided me with endless opportunities for creative expression. I am delighted to share how tradition has influenced and shaped my work.”
Listen to a live rendition of one of the most beloved albums in recent history. Come ready to sway with your Stevie Nicks shaw and “go your own way” into 2019!
From Craig Martin, founder of Classic Albums Live:
“This is a tough album for us to perform. The vocals are tricky; there’s nuance and layering and thunder and the guitars are orchestral. Plus, the vibe of the album—the feel—that’s hard to recreate. I wanted the band to move into an apartment together to prepare for this album, but that didn’t fly, so we rehearsed our tails off and we got it.
What’s cool about this record is that everyone knows all the words, even the ushers at the shows, so when CAL hits the stage and plays this masterpiece it is joyous.”
Before you hear some great music, swing by Twist for happy hour from 3-6 p.m. for $2 domestic beers and app of the week; $3 tap beers and rail cocktails; $6 bacon jalapeno wontons, lettuce wraps, hummus bowl and meatballs; $7 signature cocktails; and more!
