Whether you’re just looking for a stroll, window shopping, a day on the town, or a place to call home, the downtown Fargo neighborhood is made for walking. With a Walk Score® of 96, downtown is one of the most accessible neighborhoods in the Fargo-Moorhead area.

2. Great Northern Bicycle Company

Located in the city’s historic train station, Great Northern Bicycle Company has been serving the local bike community since 1987. They are a one-stop-shop for all things bicycles. Don’t miss their weekly group rides that range from family-friendly trails to race training and mountain bike off-roading. 

3. Downtown Yoga

Downtown Yoga is nestled in a historic building right on Broadway, and they are your one-stop-shop for yoga classes. Sunrise yoga? Check. Power flow yoga? Check. Hot yoga? Check. They even offer virtual classes, in case you prefer to keep your practice socially distanced. Added bonuses: They have a patio,  and their studio is totally Instagrammable. 

4. Pure Barre

Heard of Barre but don’t know what it’s all about? Conveniently located at the corner of 2nd AvenueNorth and Roberts Alley in downtown Fargo, Pure Barre offers a collection of 45-50 minute total body workouts using low impact, isometric movements to strengthen, tone and produce results. Not to mention, your first class is complimentary so you can make sure it’s a good fit for what your body needs.

5. Fly Fitness

Whether you’re looking for spin classes, strength training, or yoga, Fly Fitness has you covered. Their class-based fitness studio is right on the corner of Dillard alley, and their members can’t stop talking about how uplifting the Fly community is.

6. Icehouse Fit

Looking for a coach to guide you? The certified Icehouse Fit coaches work with you 1-on-1 to create a customized workout plan based on your unique goals. Choose from group classes, private sessions, Olympic weightlifting training, sports performance, or general health and well-being.

7. Fercho YMCA

If a classic gym setting is more your style, the Fercho YMCA is the place to go, especially if you’re looking for somewhere family-friendly. Their facility includes an indoor aquatic center, so you can get your laps in all year round. There are also classes galore, basketball and racquetball courts, and a social center. 

8. Island Park

Just south of Main Avenue in downtown Fargo, Island Park has great options for exercise. Walk the  paths, play a game of pick-up basketball, take a dip in their outdoor pool, serve up a tennis match, or  run the cement stairs as if you are training like Rocky. *queue music* 

9. Ecce Yoga

If you’re looking for a more holistic option, Ecce Yoga promotes physical and mental wellness through the practice of yoga and meditation. Located on 4th Street in a recently renovated building, Ecce has cultivated a space for healing, growth, and community.

10. Oak Grove Frisbee Golf

Round up a group of friends and challenge them to a wholesome game of disc golf at Oak Grove Park’s 18-hole course. This 36-acre park is one of the oldest the Fargo Park District has to offer, meaning lots of shade and large trees.

11. Beyond Running

Beyond Running is an inclusive running community for the “everyday athlete.” Their shop is a haven for those that are not quite ready to call themselves runners, yet is impressive enough for those who are seasoned at the sport. Stay motivated by joining their Socially Distanced Run/Walk Challenge

12. Outdoor Trails

City Hall marks the location for accessing over 5 miles of dedicated paved river trails and cross-country  ski trails. Choose between scenic river trails that lead north to Oak Grove Park and Mickelson Field or  south to Lindenwood in midtown Fargo. 

13. Dike West Park

Did you know Dike West is home to Fargo’s largest skate park? No matter if you’re a beginner, intermediate, or advanced skater, the Dike’s concrete park has a challenge for you to shred. In the winter, the Dike is one of Fargo’s top sledding destinations.

14. Red River Canoeing and Kayaking

Exploring the Red by paddle is one of the most unique fitness options near downtown. Don’t own a  canoe or kayak? Not to worry. Rentals are available at the Hjemkomst Landing June through August through River Keepers.

15. Cross Country Skiing at Viking Ship Park

Just across the river from downtown Fargo is Viking Ship Park in Moorhead, MN. Make the best of winter with a cross-country skiing outing. It’s a great excuse to bundle up, get outside, and move your body once the temperature has dropped.

16. Broadway Square

Head to the Skate Shack, throw on your skates and hit the ice. The SCHEELS ice rink at Broadway Square has quickly become a favorite community hangout for some magical, winter-friendly fun. In the warmer months, cool off with the interactive splash pad. Stay tuned for programmed fitness events.
