10 Things To Eat & Drink This Month

Photos by Hillary Ehlen and Andrew Jason

Every month throughout the year, we publish “Five Things to Eat and Drink,” celebrating the delicious dishes and drinks that our area provides. To recap this delicious year, here are 10 tasty features from 2018. We hope this collection will inspire you to get out there and revisit some of these delectable favorites.

1. BBQ Chicken Pizza

True North Bistro

True North Bistro is a hidden gem inside of the Four Points by Sheraton by the Sanford Hospital. They partner with Flatland Brewery and use their beer in many of their recipes, like their BBQ chicken pizza. The BBQ sauce is made with Flatland’s Simcosis IPA, and it’s topped with charbroiled chicken breast.

3. S’mores Cookie Dough

If you can’t find the time to make it out to a bonfire, have no fear. You can still enjoy all the goodness of s’mores (with no messy fire needed) thanks to Scoop N Dough’s s’mores cookie dough. Your belly will thank you, and your clothes won’t even smell like smoke!

4. Milk Maiden

Drekker Brewing Co

This beer is a chocolate milk stout that pours a deep black with rich, tan foam. The addition of lactose sugar adds a silky, smooth body and a bit of sweetness to balance the dark roasted coffee and chocolate flavors. Try this one out at their original downtown location or swing by their new Brewhalla location further down First Avenue.

7. Beef Brisket Plate

Jay's Smokin BBQ

It is hard to beat the classic comfort of BBQ. Jay’s Smokin’ BBQ’s smoked beef brisket is served up with no other than a side of homemade coleslaw and mac and cheese. We think this is a perfect comfort food for a summer day or a great way to warm up your insides on a winter night.
